Pet Insurance

Did you know 1 in 3 pets may require unexpected veterinary treatment each year?

Whilst advances in veterinary medicine mean we can do more for your pet, treatment costs can soon mount up. We recommend insurance to all our clients as this can help alleviate the concern over cost in an already stressful situation.
Whilst insurance will not cover preventative treatment a good insurance company will cover most long term and emergency conditions.

You may be surprised to hear that you are more likely to claim on your pet insurance than your car or household policies. In fact, in our experience if you are one of the few people who do not need to claim on your pet insurance you really are incredibly lucky indeed!

It is important to be aware that not all pet insurance is the same. Some policies limit the amount of time or money that you can claim for. Others will have different extras such as alternative treatments, physiotherapy or help to find missing pets.

The Croft Club has been especially created for preventative care.

Do not just shop around on price alone.

We recommend asking the following key questions, so you clearly understand what each policy does and does not cover.

  • Will the policy cover my pet for on-going conditions (e.g. eczema or anything which once developed will always be a problem) into its old age?
  • Will exclusions be placed at renewal for an illness that occurred in the previous year (this can often happen with annual policies)?
  • Will my excess or premium increase if I make a claim?
  • Will the policy cover: congenital and hereditary illness, hip-related conditions, dental treatment or behavioural conditions?

If in doubt speak to one of our nurses.

Pet Insurance

We never want money to be an issue should your pet require treatment but there is also no doubt that the provision of high-quality veterinary care can be costly.

We hope your pet stays in good health but, ask yourself, could you afford an unexpected veterinary bill of £2000? In the absence of a Pet National Health Service, lifelong pet insurance may offer the best solution for pet owners.

It is for this reason we suggest all our clients take out a good quality pet insurance product. We are a Vetsure-accredited practice and, as such, promote the Vetsure range of pet insurance products. As a recognised practice we benefit from active communication channels with the Vetsure team. This means that we can obtain pre-authorisation prior to starting treatment and can help make the claim process as easy as possible.
